Flavor Materials International (FMI) traces its beginnings to Interbahm International, which was founded in 1967. Interbahm’s mission was to supply the highest-quality citrus oils and other specialty ingredients to the world.

In 1984, P&K Flavor Company was added to expand the company’s capabilities to supply finished flavors to customers in the beverage, confection, chewing gum and baked goods industries. In 1992, Flavor Materials International was officially established to consolidate our operating companies.

During this time, FMI has built a diverse team of experts with many years of technical experience in the food and flavors industries. In 2000, FMI purchased Artech International, a specialty citrus ingredient processor with proprietary extraction technology. The strategic acquisition of this high-tech manufacturing facility added a diverse array of specialty ingredients to our product portfolio, most notable is the launch of Hydrocarbon-Free (The Original HCF™) essential oils into the market.
